The exquisite enamelwork of Norwegian silversmith Jacob Tostrup is exhibited in this beautifully rendered sterling silver Art Nouveau brooch depicting a bird in flight over a scenic waterway, circa mid-1800s.

The finely crafted antique "skonvirke" pin is comprised of a heavy gauge sterling silver with guilloche enamel, glazed in colors of sky and navy blue, turquoise and white, and protected with a vitreous glass finish. 

The elegant brooch measures 1&7/8 inches wide by 1&1/4 inches high, has a tube hinge and c-catch, weighs 16.5 grams, and is marked “Monster Beskyttet” (which indicates ‘patent pending’), “J. Tostrup”, and “.925S”.
